To enrich the summer practical life of employees' children, on August 15, 2024, Wuxi Jinmao launched the second summer camp activity with the theme of "Little Fashion Designer" on the basis of the Love Summer Nursery Class. This summer camp lasts for three days and carefully plans a series of colorful and entertaining courses, aiming to create a unique summer life for students. It perfectly collides traditional clothing aesthetics and technology digitization, helping students to explore the innovative development of excellent traditional Chinese culture in depth, showcasing the essence of Eastern aesthetics through digital means, and presenting the exquisite and unparalleled Chinese civilization.
Our first stop was at the China Clay Figure Museum, where we began our first lesson - clay sculpture painting under the guidance of the staff. Everyone sat upright and listened attentively to the teacher's explanation. After learning about the development process of Huishan clay figurines, the students couldn't wait to start working. They meticulously complete their works through a series of actions such as dipping, tracing, and painting. They appeared so serious in every action, even though it was their first attempt, they showed extremely high enthusiasm and creativity. They constantly adjusted and finally completed their clay figurine work, and the joy of success permeated every student's face. Although these works are simple, they embody their hard work and creativity, and also pay tribute to and inherit intangible cultural heritage. Subsequently, the students visited the Clay Figure Museum, which is currently the highest standard, most comprehensive, and most comprehensive themed museum in the clay figure industry in China. It is known for its bright colors, concise and full shapes, and smooth and bright lines. Its works are mostly children's toys and decorative exhibits. This museum is not only an important display of Wuxi's culture, but also carries the wisdom and artistic talent of ancient people, and witnesses the history and cultural development of the Chinese nation. Here, the students enjoyed intangible cultural heritage, as if traveling through time and space, engaging in a silent dialogue with craftsmen. Exquisite craftsmanship and ingenuity leave everyone amazed and proud of the intangible cultural heritage of our hometown. In the afternoon, the students arrived at Zhao Hongyu Embroidery Art Museum. At the event, Teacher Zhao gave a wonderful lecture on fine embroidery, allowing students to further understand the profound and extensive art of Wuxi fine embroidery and Chinese embroidery culture, and experience the exquisite and meticulous craftsmanship of Wuxi fine embroidery and the exquisite and unparalleled traditional Chinese arts and crafts. In order to shorten the distance between "intangible cultural heritage" and students, Mr. Zhao guided everyone to make "subtle embroidery" the Year of the Loong bookmarks after the lecture. She demonstrated traditional needlework skills to everyone, introduced the characteristics of needlework, and guided everyone into the world of tin embroidery art. The students listened attentively, carefully pondered, constantly tried, and strived for excellence. The patterns of lively dragons are presented in exquisite works one by one. This observation and production not only allows students to inherit intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, but also enhances their interest in researching the spirit and culture behind intangible cultural heritage techniques.
The next morning, the students learned how to make embossed fans for intangible cultural heritage. The teacher explained in detail the production process and key points of the "embossed round fan", encouraging everyone to unleash their creativity and create fan works that are both ornamental and practical with one flower, one leaf, and one skillful hand, inheriting the beauty of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Students integrate their creativity and unleash their imagination, using various flowers and leaves to outline their artistic conception on the plain fan surface, making the originally ordinary fan surface become colorful and vibrant. After an hour of production, a round fan with artistic beauty and poetic beauty was made. Everyone took the fan they made and took a group photo with a smile. The production of embossed fans not only cultivates students' artistic sentiment and enhances their cultural and artistic cultivation, but also allows everyone to feel the beauty that art adds to life in addition to busy learning, increasing students' love for a better life. With curiosity and exploratory questions, the students came to the Canal Culture and Art Museum and began an immersive study tour, listening and uncovering the mysterious veil of ancient Shu civilization together! As the lecturer spoke, bronze instruments with unique shapes and complex craftsmanship, such as the "Bronze Vertical Eye Mask," "Bronze Standing Man," and "Bronze Divine Tree," silently recounted the glory of the Shu Kingdom thousands of years ago through the long river of history. The light and shadow content in the exhibition showcases the rich connotations of Sanxingdui civilization through immersive digital interactive spaces and new audio-visual experiences. The students seemed to be transported to the distant ancient Shu era in an instant, witnessing the wisdom of their ancestors, listening to the sound of relics, and experiencing the profoundness of Chinese culture and the enchanting brilliance of its long history. Then it came to the small tour guide segment, where the students boldly went on stage to explain the exhibits they had just visited. Through the output of knowledge, not only did they deepen their understanding of the exhibits, but they also honed their on-site presentation skills. In the process of alternating learning and practice, improve comprehensive abilities and enhance confidence!
On the last morning, a communication and experience course with AI was held at Jinmao Company. The teacher from the Design and Development Department of Jinmao Company provided a detailed introduction to AI design, including the concept, types, applications, painting principles, and future prospects of AI, inspiring students to explore and be curious about AI. Everyone listened with great interest, and every student was filled with curiosity. After mastering some basic knowledge, it's time for the students to experience AI design on their own. With the help of the teacher and teaching assistant, I drew my favorite pattern, and once the clothes are printed, I will have my own customized T-shirt! AI technology is constantly changing our way of life and social structure. Through this exploration of AI, we have cultivated students' interdisciplinary thinking and innovation abilities, enabling them to view problems from a higher perspective and propose more unique and valuable solutions. This is not only a bold attempt to combine traditional art with intelligent technology, but also a beneficial exploration to actively break through traditional clothing teaching and creation in the current era of intelligent informatization. The digital wave is rolling in, and the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage also need to keep up with the pulse of the times, making new generation digital technologies such as artificial intelligence a new driving force for the protection, inheritance, and revitalization of intangible cultural heritage. In the afternoon, the core theme of this summer camp arrived: Little Fashion Designer - Making Cheongsam by Myself. The teacher introduced clothing design techniques and a brief introduction to clothing culture. The students were attracted by the unique temperament of the qipao displayed, and a journey of exploration about qipao began. Under the guidance of the teacher and teaching assistant, everyone started sewing their own qipao by threading needles and threads. Small designers have developed unique aesthetic abilities, freely choosing their favorite materials to design cheongsams, sewing different types of cheongsams such as standing collars, right lapels, waist cinching, slits, ruffles, embroidery, and buttons. Their hands-on skills have been exercised, and they have experienced the joy of making clothing, knowing how to use materials for cutting, sewing, folding, and splicing to make cheongsams. Cheongsams connect the past, present, and future. They are not only a garment, but also a symbol of our Chinese culture. Through learning and mastering sewing skills, students can enhance their humanistic heritage, cultivate aesthetic sentiments, and have the excellent quality of daring to practice. Intangible cultural heritage contains the humanistic spirit and sustainable inheritance of the Chinese nation. Moral standards. When ancient intangible cultural heritage becomes a part of life, when familiar skills weave the future, the significance of intangible cultural heritage protection and inheritance becomes apparent.
